Adopting new ways of working through Working Together Agreements

The COVID-19 pandemic forced HCRG Care Group and many other organisations to adopt new ways of working overnight. Whilst changes were implemented quickly as a result of necessity, it became clear that there was value in offering a more flexible working environment for colleagues.

The ambition was to empower colleagues to have a level of choice over how, where and when they best worked, no matter what their role and how long they had been with HCRG Care Group, allowing them to make a difference where it matters. With the involvement of all colleagues, they were able to collaborate new ways of working, which resulted in Working Together Agreements (WTAs) for all teams across the organisation.

Phased flexible working gradually implemented into key areas across the organisation, for example, non-patient facing areas, non-clinical settings and clinical settings.

Created new policies, tools, and training to implement flexible working, with the introduction of virtual classrooms and guides for managers.

Created moments that matter between colleagues and managers, interviews, appraisals, 1:1, induction, farewells.

Rolled out a new rostering system across our operational services. Colleagues and managers now find the combination of the two systems easier to provide shift preferences, manage demand, capacity and working patterns.
