‘Outstanding’ sexual health services across Lincolnshire
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) undertook a detailed review of the services across the two Lincolnshire locations and assessed their services as ‘Outstanding’ in being Caring, Effectiveness, Responsiveness and being Well-led – it scored ‘Good’ in Safety.
This means that all services provided by HCRG Care Group which have been inspected by the CQC continue to hold either ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ ratings.
The services are run by HCRG Care Group on behalf of the local authorities in each area. CQC Inspectors stated in their report that: “Staff treated patients with compassion and kindness. They truly valued people as individuals and empowered patients as partners in their care, both practically and emotionally. Feedback from people who used the service was continually positive.
“They thought that staff went the extra mile and that the care and support they received exceeded their expectations. Staff consistently embedded consideration of people’s privacy and dignity into everything they did including awareness of any specific needs.”
Debra Adams, General Manager for sexual health services across HCRG Care Group, said: “We are all over the moon with this official assessment – this is brilliant news for our patients across Grimsby and Scunthorpe. We are proud to change people’s lives by transforming health and care, and this is a testament to the caring work that has been carried out in recent years.
“We have made such a positive difference helping the community across Lincolnshire. Our teams work incredibly hard to provide high quality care to patients and their commitment has not wavered for a second throughout the COVID-19 pandemic – they have demonstrated such professionalism and resilience during the last couple of years.
“I am delighted that our sexual health professionals have received this well-deserved recognition for being such a caring, responsible and innovative team. I am so thrilled with this result!”
The report also praised best practice and highlighted that: “Staff worked well together for the benefit of patients, advised them on how to lead healthier lives, supported them to make decisions about their care, and had access to good information.”
Feedback from almost 1,000 patients was also closely reviewed and scrutinised by the CQC in services provided from Sterling Street Medical Centre, in Grimsby, as well as the Ironstone Centre, in Scunthorpe.
The service also operates The Sexual Health Hub (https://www.thesexualhealthub.co.uk) where local people can book Chlamydia and other screening online.
