Adult community services in Sittingbourne and Sheppey, run by HCRG Care Group on behalf of the NHS, have been rated ‘good’ following a Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection.

The report also gives a ‘good’ rating to the inpatient services that the organisation runs at Sittingbourne Memorial Hospital and Sheppey Community Hospital.

Staff in Sittingbourne were praised for treating patients with compassion and kindness, respecting their privacy and dignity, taking account of their individual needs, and helping them to understand their conditions. Patients also told the CQC that they were happy with their care, with the service described as ‘excellent’.

The team in Sheppey was recognised for its robust safeguarding process and collaborative working with other agencies such as the police and social services to safeguard people from harm. The inspectors saw how staff worked well together for the benefit of patients, advised them on how to lead healthier lives, supported them to make decisions about their care, and had access to good information.

Debbie Lindon-Taylor, Head of HCRG Care Group’s North Kent adult community services said, “A huge well done to all our inpatient and community staff – the ‘good’ CQC ratings are a testament to the hard work and dedication from all colleagues, during what has been extremely challenging times for health care delivery. We’re proud of the services we provide and making sure we continue to deliver the best care possible to meet the needs of local people.”

The CQC report highlighted areas to build upon regarding elements of training. To address this, the services now have a dedicated resource focused on reviewing and achieving the required compliance in staff training.

The majority of CQC-inspected services run by HCRG Care Group are rated good or outstanding.
