Val qualified as a registered nurse and district nurse at the University of Edinburgh in 1984, before completing specialist training as a community public health nurse at Oxford Brookes University. She worked as a health visitor across Oxford, Hampshire and Wiltshire before progressing into senior operational and strategic leadership roles, including serving as a professional executive nurse at board level.

Since joining HCRG Care Group, Val has played a key role in service transformation and system-wide improvement. She currently leads an innovative integrated community healthcare contract across Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire (BSW), helping to deliver the NHS ambition of shifting care from hospital to community settings, embracing digital innovation and focusing on prevention.

Val’s leadership style is inclusive and collaborative, bringing together healthcare, local authority, voluntary sector and community partners to improve outcomes and deliver sustainable change.
