Chief Nursing Officer

I qualified as a Registered Nurse in 1986 whilst part of the Queen Alexandra’s Royal Army Nursing Corps. I then joined the NHS, and after working in acute medicine for a time, I joined the team at NHS Surrey Community Health as their community services director in 2007.

In 2012, I joined HCRG Care Group as part of the team who transferred when Surrey Community Health joined the business. Since then, I have held a variety of roles and enjoyed the opportunity to grow and develop in my career.

When did you start working in your current position and what do you do?

I became our Chief Nursing Officer in June 2022. I provide professional leadership to our clinical teams and inform our strategic and operational plans. As well as this, I support our operational teams in managing quality across the business. I am also our nominated individual for CQC and our director of infection prevention and control and safeguarding.

What was your journey to this role?

Since joining HCRG Care Group in 2012 I’ve held several managerial roles, including Managing Director for Surrey and Kent (2017-2020) and Director of Quality and Improvement (2020 to 2022). I saw the role of Chief Nursing Officer as an opportunity not only to return to my nursing roots, but to also ensure we deliver high quality services to everyone who needs us.

What is the best thing about your role?

The best bit of my job is getting out to visit our services. I love meeting colleagues to hear about their work and the difference they’re making for the people who use our services every day.
